Important notice: Fall/winter water level adjustments

Bulletins posted on 2020-10-15 by Ontario Power Generation

Please be advised that Thanksgiving Monday marks the end of summer water level minimums for the Ottawa and Madawaska Rivers. Ontario Power Generation (OPG) will adjust operations within allowable operating levels using the fall/winter requirements. This may result in lower water levels. When water temperatures begin to drop, water levels at Calabogie Generating Station (GS) and Stewartville GS, on the Madawaska River, and Chenaux GS, on the Ottawa River, will also be drawn down to encourage amphibians and reptiles to hibernate safely. This is an initiative supported by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry. Residents and businesses along these rivers are advised to take all necessary precautions to ensure the lower water levels do not impact property. For additional information, please call Jennifer Gardiner, 613-433-9673 ext. 3350.
