River conditions forecasts posted on 2023-04-29 by Ottawa River Regulating Committee

Two weather systems are expected to bring significant rainfall over most of the Ottawa River basin between Saturday April 29 and Tuesday May 1. Runoff from this rainfall is expected to raise river levels above what was experienced last week along the main stem of the river. Principle reservoirs are being managed to reduce river flows in downstream areas. Levels in Mattawa could reach minor flood levels. Levels in the Pembroke area are at the minor flooding threshold and are expected to exceed this level.  Levels on Lake Coulonge are already above the major flooding threshold and are expected to rise higher over the coming week.  Chats Lake and Lake Deschenes levels are expected to exceed their major flooding thresholds over the coming week.  Flood prone areas between Ottawa/Gatineau and the Montreal area are expected to experience minor flooding.  Forecasts indicate that levels in all locations along the main stem of the Ottawa River will remain below historic flood levels.
