Forecast for 2022-05-24

River conditions forecasts posted on 2022-05-24 by Ottawa River Regulating Committee

Significant rainfall received in the northern part of the basin over the last 10 days is causing spring runoff in that part of the basin to increase. Further increases are expected due to rainfall forecasted for later this week.  Reservoirs are allowing a large portion of the northern runoff to flow to downstream areas to maintain reservoir levels below flood thresholds. As a result, along the main stem of the Ottawa River, flows and levels are expected to increase slightly in most locations over the coming week.  Levels are expected to remain well below flood levels in all locations along the main stem of the Ottawa River, including between Cumberland and the Montreal Region.  Note: For information about forecast conditions on the Gatineau River, please consult with the Sécurité civile and City of Gatineau (website – Flooding and spring freshet – Ville de Gatineau).
