Forecast for 2024-04-15

River conditions forecasts posted on 2024-04-15 by Ottawa River Regulating Committee

Water levels and flows continue to increase along the main stem of the Ottawa River in most locations following significant rainfall (up to 75 mm) combined with snowmelt (up to 60 mm) in the Abitibi-Timiskaming area, with rainfall of up to 40 mm elsewhere in the basin, between April 11 and 13. Levels and flows have peaked at Mattawa and are starting to stabilize at Pembroke. Elsewhere, levels are expected to continue increasing prior to declining later this week. Minor flooding in low-lying areas may occur over the next week as a result of the increased spring runoff. Low-lying areas are those locations that regularly flood during the spring freshet period. Please refer to the forecast section of our website for more information about the water levels in your area. Reservoirs in the northern part of the watershed are being used to store spring runoff and reduce flows and levels in downstream river reaches.  See our press release for more information.
