Forecast for 2025-04-26

River conditions forecasts posted on 2025-04-26 by Ottawa River Regulating Committee

Flows and water levels on the main stem of the Ottawa River continue to rise due to increased runoff from ongoing rainfall combining with snowmelt from the mountainous areas of the basin. Minor flood levels are expected to be exceeded in flood prone areas along the river from Pembroke down to the Montreal Region, starting today. Levels may reach or exceed the major flood level in Lake Coulonge and Lake Deschenes depending on the precipitation received and rapidity of snowmelt. From Gatineau (Hull Marina) down to the Montreal Region, levels are expected to exceed minor flood levels but should remain below major flood levels. Our website Forecasts section provides expected water levels over a four-day horizon in your area. Levels are expected to peak starting Tuesday-Wednesday between Lake Coulonge and Lake Deschenes, and starting Thursday-Friday from Gatineau down to the Montreal Region. Uncertain weather factors play into estimating peak levels. On April 26 peak level estimates are: Lac Coulonge (108.35 m), Chats Lake (75.35 m), Lake Deschenes (60.00 m), Gatineau -Hull marina (43.75 m) and Thurso (42.35 m).
