COVID-19: Important message by the Planning Board

Bulletins posted on 2020-03-20 by Ottawa River Regulation Planning Board

Members of the Ottawa River Regulation Planning Board are committed to ensuring the continued cooperative management of the principal reservoirs in the Ottawa River basin and the provision of flow forecasts to responsible authorities throughout the spring season as the Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic unfolds.

While the situation continues to change rapidly, the top priority remains the health and safety of our staff. Following the advice of public health authorities, staff of the Ottawa River Regulation Secretariat have limited non-essential travel and meetings, and are working remotely. Residents may still communicate with the Secretariat using the ‘Contact Us’ form on the website.

Operations of the Ottawa River Regulating Committee are unaffected by the Covid-19 precautionary measures given that communications and cooperative management of the principal reservoirs is continually done using digital data exchange and telecommunications. All dam operators members of the Committee have undertaken precautionary measures at their local facilities to ensure ongoing safe operations. The Committee continues to monitor basin conditions closely and will be able to provide flow forecasting for the Ottawa River throughout the spring season.

If you have any concerns or questions, don’t hesitate to communicate with us by writing to secretariat@ottawariver.ca or calling 819-994-9049 or 1-800-778-1246.
