2024 Ottawa River Spring Freshet Review
Bulletins posted on 2024-07-26 by Ottawa River Regulating Committee
Record warmth in early March triggered an early snow melt. The limited snowpack was quickly depleted over much of the basin and flows soon declined. A large weather system from Texas brought up to 75mm of rainfall to the basin between April 11 and 13. Most of the rain occurred in the Timiskaming area, melting the last of the snow and adding to the runoff. The peak flow at the Carillon Dam occurred on April 19. The following month brought normal or drier than normal conditions and flows declined during May. Find out about other highlights of the spring freshet 2024 in this bulletin.
